So you thought the chances are 50%-50%, and there's nothing you can do to influence the sex of the child you conceive? Well, guess what? There are simple, easy and safe steps you can take to literally 'choose' the gender of your baby.
Remember what you've been told in the past - you're having a boy if;
-You didn't experience morning sickness in early pregnancy -Your belly looks like a basketball -Your areolas have darkened considerably -You are carrying low -You are craving salty or sour foods -You are craving protein - meats and cheese -Your feet are colder than they were before pregnancy -The hair on your legs has grown faster during pregnancy -Dad-to-be is gaining weight, right along with you -Pregnancy has you looking better than ever -You are having headaches
Or for a girl:
-You had morning sickness early in pregnancy -You are carrying the weight in your hips and rear -Your hair develops red highlights -You are carrying high -Your belly looks like a watermelon -You are craving sweets -You are craving fruit -You crave orange juice -You don't look quite as good as normal during pregnancy -You are moodier than usual during pregnancy -Your face breaks out more than usual
Instead of predicting there are some things that can be taken into consideration. Firstly it's worth understanding a bit more about the sex chromosomes. Men produce two types of sperms, the X (female) and Y (male). The 'Y' sperms are smaller, weaker, but faster than the 'X' sperms, which are bigger, stronger, but slower. With this knowledge you can do a number of things to increase the likelihood of a boy or a girl.
(1) Timing is imperative in conceiving the child of your choice. The closer to ovulation you have sex, the better the chances you'll have a boy, due to the 'Y' sperm being faster, and getting to the egg first. If you have sex 3 days or more before ovulation, the better your chances of conceiving a girl, The weaker 'Y' sperm will die off leaving a greater amount of ''X' sperm present as the egg is released.
(2) The pH balance of the woman's tract is also of great importance. The more acidic the woman, the more likely she is to have a girl, as the acidic environment will kill of the weaker 'Y'' sperm. Conversely, a more alkaline environment favors boys. Note: Some women are naturally very acidic and have a hard time conceiving boys.
(3) Position of intercourse and depth of penetration are important. Deep penetration places the sperm closer to the egg, giving the male sperm a better chance - so shallow penetration will favor girls, and deeper will favor boys. Also, during intercourse, when a woman orgasms, the body releases a substance which makes the environment more alkaline, favoring boys.
(4) Another recommendation is for your man to have a strong cup of coffee just before intercourse. Apparently it works well with the 'Y' sperm, and gives them the booster they need to get to the egg first!
